Escaping the Age of Average:
Beyond AI Workslop

Everything is starting to look, sound and read the same, and generative AI is accelerating the trend. The same tools, trained on the same data and guided by the same shallow prompts, are producing credible-looking work that nobody remembers.

Mark explores the cultural forces behind this convergence, the hidden costs of outsourcing your thinking to a machine, and what it takes to build teams that produce distinctive, high-value work in the age of AI.

Best for
Anyone looking to understand the potential risks and challenges of the shift to generative AI.

5 Lessons Learned From
Inside 25+ AI Transformations

Every organisation embedding generative AI is running the same experiment: can you get people to change how they work, at scale, with a technology that’s moving faster than most leadership teams can process?

Drawing on 25 AI transformations, Mark shares five hard-won lessons about what separates the organisations that get real, measurable value from those that don’t. They are practical lessons on aligning leaders, building capability and redesigning the work itself.

Best for
Leaders seeking to understand the reality of driving successful change.

Beyond Logins: Measuring
What AI Is Really Worth

Most AI programmes can tell you how many people logged in. Very few can tell you what actually changed. Boards want evidence, teams want clear guardrails, and leaders feel stuck choosing between moving fast and staying safe.

Mark shows why that’s a false choice: how a few simple rules give people the confidence to lean in, why measurement has to start before anything changes, and how to prove the investment is worth it to the board.

Best for
Boards and executive teams seeking evidence of AI’s impact.

Learning from the Future:
Rethinking the Art of the Possible

As AI accelerates innovation and disrupts almost every aspect of our lives, understanding what the future holds has never been more important. But what if we thought about it differently? Not as an extension of the past, but by imagining a plausible world where AI has fundamentally transformed how we live, work, compete and connect.

This session brings those scenarios to life, exploring how AI is reshaping business models, redefining competitive advantage and transforming how organisations create value.

Best for
Leaders and teams planning for an AI-shaped future.

Why I started Headspring.

Signature: Mark Byrne
  1. In 2023 I started using ChatGPT, not to do the same things faster, but to challenge how I thought about problems and how I solved them. Two things happened quickly. I got much better at my job, and I started enjoying it a lot more.

  2. After that, the way people talked about AI started to really frustrate me. The “AI is coming for your job” narrative is lazy and misses the point entirely. AI doesn't make people redundant. Businesses make that choice. When they do, it's a failure of imagination, not an inevitability of the technology.

  3. That's why I founded Headspring. Choosing to back your people with AI isn't the easy option. It's the more ambitious and demanding one. It requires leaders to back their existing teams: to make a credible commitment to their people, invest in their ability to use AI well, and redesign work so the technology amplifies human judgement and expertise rather than replacing them.

That demands communication that's consistent with your values, respectful and anchored in trust. It also requires patience. The real gains in engagement, innovation and performance won't always show up in the next quarter.

  4. That's the work I'm doing with Air New Zealand, CPA Australia, Endeavour Group, RMIT and others, with engagements running six months to a year. It's also why I've been shortlisted for AI Consultant of the Year at the 2026 Australian AI Awards.

  5. The question I keep coming back to is simple. How do you use AI to take the admin off people's plates, then put that time back into the moments where they create the most value, for themselves, their colleagues, their customers and the business?

If you're asking the same question, let's talk.
